This version of the Sicilian defense, first applied by the Russian master Veniamin Sozin in the USSR Championship of 1929, was a brilliant weapon in the handling of the legendary world champion Robert Fisher. He was in the debut repertoire of Garry Kasparov and Veselin Topalov. Recently, this option is widely used in modern practice. The systematized theory of the Sozin-Fisher attack is first published in Russia.
