К этому выводу он пришел на основании своих наблюдений относительно слабости пункта f7, который, по его мнению, следует стараться как можно скорее атаковать, а также на том основании, что 2. Nf3 препятствует продвижению f2-f4. Правда, продвижение это на 2-м ходу он сам считал слабым, но в позднейшей стадии оно представлялось ему вполне уместным. Исходя из тех же соображений, в ответ на 1.е4 е5 2. Nf3 он рекомендовал за черных 2...d6 (так называемая «защита Филидора» ) как наилучшую подготовку к f7-f5. В настоящее время 2. Nf3 считается более сильным, чем 2. Bс4, что же касается защиты (после 2. Nf3) 2...d6, то она признается возможной, хотя и дающей черным трудную игру, - нo, во всяком случае, не в ее первоначальной форме, т.е. в связи с 3...f5. To, что современная теория отвергла эти дебютные идеи Филидора, отнюдь не умaляет его заслуг. В области дебютов он проложил новые пути: он первый, исходя из общих принципов, пытался доказать превосходство одного дебюта перед другим. Как мы уже указывали, однако, главный вклад Филидора в шахматное искусство состоит не в этом. Гораздо большее значение имеют разработанные им общие методы и его теория пешечной игры, и в наше время еще сохранившая силу. Вот почему мы должны признать Филидора создателем позиционного метода, т.е. такого способа игры, который основан не на точном расчете огромного числа вариантов, а на общих принципах и правилах. В своем капитальном труде "Analyse des echecs» Филидор на материале примерно 9 тщательно проанилизированных им партий обосновывает свои правила. The Yearbook on Correspondence Chess was a periodical publication on correspondence chess. It was created in 1991 in collaboration with the International Correspondence Chess Federation and - similar to The Chess Informer in Local Chess published in the 1960s - was dedicated to international correspondence chess in three volumes per year. The games, commented in informator style, were supplemented with theoretical materials. The initiative to publish a yearbook on correspondence chess came from Italian chess correspondents Sergio Curtacci and Maurizio Tirabassi. The series began in 1991 at the publishing house s1 Editrice, Bologna. The editor of the first three editions was Massimo Alba, and from the fourth volume Maurizio Tirabassi took over editing. И кому не известно, что они названы так по имени великого Стаунтона. Но, оказывается это глубокое заблуждение: эти фигуры создал совсем другой человек! В 1995 году директор музея шахмат России Наталья Иванова поделилась с общественность своим открытием, ставшим результатом её многолетних изысканий. Потребность в универсальных шахматных фигурах возникла к середине прошлого века, в преддверии первого международного турнира в Лондоне (1851). В то время европейские игроки пользовались различными шахматными дизайнами. Англичане обратились к талантливому лондонскому художнику Натаниелю Куку. Работа у него двигалась споро, пока не дошло дело до коня. Кук поступил мудро - он направился в Британский музей и, действительно, вскоре нашел там искомое: прообразом «стаунтоновского» коня с подстриженной на античный манер гривой послужила один из лошадей, изображенных на хранящемся в музее фризе Парфенона - древнегреческого храма, украшенного знаменитым Фидием в V веке до н. э. Когда комплект полностью был готов, его показали знаменитому шахматному мастеру Говарду Стаунтону. Благородные фигуры так ему понравились, что он разрешил... ставить свое факсимиле на коробках с фигурами. Дизайн «стаунтона» (о Куке все как бы забыли) был запатентован 1 марта 1849 года, а уже 29 сентября лондонская фирма «Джон Жаке» предложила первый комплект для продажи. Какое-то время эта фирма была единственным производителем стаунтоновских шахмат. Затем их стали делать и в других странах. В Петербурге их производила некая фирма Гейча. Любопытно, что один из выпущенных ей комплектов использовался в первом матче Карпов - Каспаров (1984). Есть какая-то тайна в этих удивительных фигурах, и постичь ее, наверное, может далеко не каждый художник. Кажется, нашим мастерам, вооружённым новейшими технологиями, это удалось.
