Founded in 1929  like a bone-cutting shop at the “Kustar” artel based on folk crafts characteristic of Tobolsk in the 18th & 19th centuries. In 1932–1960  worked as an artel of artistic bone carving "Koopexportsbyt". In 1957  The best works of Tobolsk bone carvers received high praise at the exhibition “Artists of the USSR”.
