Viswanathan “Vichy” Anand (December 11, 1969, Madras) is a well-known Indian chess player, grandmaster, FIDE World Champion 2000-2002, chess player number 1 in the world ranking list for April 2007. Anand published a book - “My best games” in 1998 and the revised edition of this book in 2001.

The author of the book, Gareth Williams, examines the history of chess pieces, starting with the ancient cultures that existed in Asia and ending with modern chess that participate in competitions today. Tarrasch was the dominant force in European chess in the early 1890's and his ability to win top level tournaments continued via his huge triumph at Vienna 1898 on to the "World Tournament Championship" of Ostend 1907.
